I John 3:6-10, Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
The Word of God According to John
"Whosoever is born of God Doth not commit sin." Consider the paths these Words have traveled, consider the places these Words have been. Who could know but God, alone, the men who perused this text. Who could know but God, alone, the minds these Words perplexed. Down thru time these Words have came meeting the masses along the way. Men of greatness, men of fame, men of sorrow, men of shame. It was read by James who kingly proclaimed, it is God’s holiness that must prevail. It was read by the countless, the vast unnamed, most doubting what these Words claimed.
It was believed by Luther and Wesley too, Spurgeon, Finney, and Moody to name a few. Now after all these lives these Words passed thru, it’s come down to today - down to me and you. The world declares these Words befuddled, a little mixed up, confused, even muddled. Those born of God, they say, will surely sin, but don’t worry, follow us, for we’re going in. A choice is always made as these Words pass by, quietly lingering, no pressure, awaiting mans reply. Then, as they came, these Words silently move on, on into the future, this Word of God, according to John.
This everlasting choice is now before us. It is our time, you and me, to stand before the judgment seat of Christ. We must this very hour choose, literally place an eternal bet, our all, on the word of God according to John - or, our all, on the word of man according to what? Can you envision those that stood before God and those that will, betting their eternal souls His precious holy righteous word MUST BE WRONG and theirs MUST BE RIGHT?
